What you will need:
1 round trash can
1 dome shaped figure (unless trash can already has a dome shape at the top)
2 paper towel rolls (or something similar to size)
2 very small boxes (or something similar to size)
3 bottle tops (2 big, 1 small)
Foil
Paint
Hot glue gun
Step 1:
Paint the trash can white, leaving the top part unpainted. It took about two layers of paint for me.
Step 2:
Find something of a dome shape that will fit on top of the trash can. I went to Hobby Lobby and found a Saint Patrick's Day plastic bucket that I then cut in half to make shorter. They also have styrofoam balls which I was going to use, but they were more expensive.
Step 3:
Wrap foil around the dome using a hot glue gun to tack it down. My bucket was actually able to slide right on top of my trash can with a perfect fit. If your object doesn't fit exactly like that, just glue it on to the top with the hot glue gun.
Step 4:
Use two paper towels and two small boxes (or something similar to size) for the sides of R2D2. Paint them white, and then it's probably a good idea to go ahead and draw the details on them before gluing them onto each side. That way you can hold them up next to one another to make sure their even.
Step 5:
Hot glue the sides on and draw and paint on the details. Use your small bottle top on the top of the trash can. The two bigger ones go on top of the sides if you wish to use them.
Now you have your very own R2D2 trash can! Enjoy :)
